Competency certification serves as a formal mechanism to ensure that food safety professionals meet established standards through structured and impartial competency certification processes. It verifies knowledge, technical skills, attitude, and demonstrated performance against recognized competency frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This certification strengthens professional credibility, safeguards public health, and enhances the overall integrity and governance of the food system.
APKEPI actively promotes the acceleration of competency certification for trained personnel, experienced workers, and prospective entrants into the food safety workforce to ensure broad-based professional recognition. The certification process supports formal recognition of competence and structured career pathways within the food sector.
In parallel, APKEPI initiates and supports the inclusive establishment of Professional Certification Bodies (Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi) to expand access and maintain credibility of certification mechanisms. Strategically, APKEPI also encourages the development of Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA) for food safety competency certification to enhance international acceptance, workforce mobility, and global competitiveness of Indonesian food safety professionals.
